Teaching Residencies
Conservatory Lab Charter School
At CLCS, our musicians are paired with an elementary or middle school student, conducting self-designed private lessons and chamber ensemble coachings — these range from 10-week-long residencies to 1-day events
Boston Children’s Museum
At Boston Children’s Museum, Continuo musicians take part in observation sessions and self-curated exhibition performances for young children — combining speaking, performance, and education.
musiConnects @ Chittick Elementary
At musiConnects, Continuo musicians are paired with younger students, taking part in a 6-week residency involving shadowing teachers, curating individualized lesson plans, and preparing for a final student recital.
Expectations:
Come prepared and on time to all rehearsals, meetings, and performances
Take risks, go beyond your comfort level and learn from the students
Maintain a positive, flexible, and open attitude
Communicate with other Continuo musicians in a clear and timely manner
Confirm transportation to and from the site
You will:
Mentor, support, and build a relationship with students
Provide educational material for the learners
Work as a team to coach students in rehearsals
Community Performances
Goddard House
Center Communities of Brookline
Groups of 4-6 Continuo musicians will come together for this program to curate a unique and open-ended program, rehearse together, and hold an evening performance at CCB’s restaurant space overlooking the Boston skyline.
At Goddard, Continuo musicians can expect to be part of a tight-knit chamber group to put on an hour-long performance for seniors with both solo and chamber music repertoire, ending with heartfelt conversations with residents.
You will:
Work as a team to generate a lively performance program
Share your music and experiences with members of varying communities
Take part in a performance experience in an untraditional setting
Expectations:
Finalize and prepare repertoire in a timely fashion
Meet with your ensemble at least once to rehearse together
Take risks, go beyond your comfort level, and learn from your peers and audience members
Maintain a positive, flexible, and open attitude
Communicate with the rest of your team in a clear and timely manner
Be able to travel to and from the venue
